Melbourne Docklands is a $17.5
billion premium waterfront
development in the heart
Located on Victoria Harbour and the Yarra River with seven kilometres of water frontage at
the western edge of the city, it is Australia’s largest construction project covering 190 hectares of land and water. Over the past decade, Docklands has emerged as Melbourne’s new
harbourside residential, commercial and visitor destination. Once a shipping port, Docklands
has been transformed into a modern, world-class mixed-use precinct that is contributing to
the growth of Melbourne.
Docklands boasts a stunning waterfront location, easy connections via road and public transport to the city centre and surrounds, design excellence, sustainable practices and high tech infrastructure.
In addition, there is an inspirational mix of shops, restaurants, parks, gardens, urban art and some of Melbourne’s top attractions, making this waterfront destination a key drawcard for residents, businesses, investors and visitors alike.
Into its twelfth year of development, Docklands has already attracted $8 billion of
investment, is home to 8,000 residents and is an employment destination for 28,000 workers
When complete (in around 2020), it will double the size of Melbourne’s CBD and is expected
to become a home for 17,000, a workplace for 40,000 people and a tourist destination for
approximately 2 million people per year.
